Why you should ... Ditch Aspartane and all things artificial and Drink Natural instead.

Hi Everyone, I hope I find you well. As I was brewing earlier, I was musing over the honey and it occurred to me that I go on about the importance of drinking natural a lot but that I might not have fully explained why it is so important. Why it matters so much to me and it should to you. The truth is, some drinks can do more harm than good to your body. I am talking about those drinks that contain aspartame and other artificial sweeteners.

Aspartame and artificial sweeteners are chemicals that are added to drinks to make them sweet without adding sugar or calories. They are often found in diet carbonated drinks, energy drinks, sports drinks, cordials and some juices. They might sound like a good idea, in fact I've had health visitors and dentists recommend them for my own children, but they have some serious concerns.

First of all, aspartane and artificial sweeteners can mess up your metabolism. They trick your brain into thinking that you are consuming sugar, but you are not. This causes your brain to release the chemicals it usually would when you have sugary foods or drinks. This can cause your body to store more fat and crave sugar. It can also lead to insulin resistance and diabetes.

Secondly, aspartane and artificial sweeteners can affect your mood and mental health. They can interfere with the production of serotonin, also known as your brain's Happy Hormone. Serotonin regulates your mood, sleep, appetite and perception of pain. Depression, anxiety, insomnia, headaches and mood swings are all linked to a lack of serotonin.

Thirdly, aspartane and artificial sweeteners can damage your organs. They can cause inflammation, oxidatitive stress and damage body cells. They can also alter your gut microbiome, which is essential for your immune system and digestion. Some studies have linked them to a number of cancers, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and other chronic illnesses. Recently, a BBC Panorama documentary highlighted some of these scientific findings and suggested that the risks were even higher for children.

So what can you do to avoid these harmful effects? The answer is simple: drink natural! Choose drinks that are made from natural ingredients with no artificial sweeteners such as water, tea, coffee, fruits juice and fermented drinks like Cridling.
